I went into Sam's club here in Illinois near Chicago and by accident, they were just putting paper towels and bathroom tissue on the floor.
I got one of each. Normally, that's just a daily occurence, but I felt as if I had just won the Lottery.

Anyway, I have more than I need, I have enough paper products til the end of the year, but more-so than ever,
I just LOVE my Sam's Club Scan & GO app on my cellphone. Pick it up, scan with my phone, flash the code at the door, and I'm gone gone gone.

I'm Loving It ~

You do realize that this is why people with no TP in the house can't get any?

Most people hoarding deny it, they are just "keeping their family safe."

That is not hoarding. He picked up one case. Just because his usage equates to that lasting a year doesn’t make it hoarding. Frankly, that’s about the only size readily available these days. I’d call what he did acting on good luck. When you see a penny, pick it up . . .

I did something similar. I have an extra case right now. My DD with three kids and a husband has already tapped into it as I suspected they would when I bought it mid March. I scored another case the other day on Costco.com and if it actually arrives, I’ll be giving some of it away to someone that needs it.

I ordered something from Walmart.com about a week ago, was suppose to be delivered last Friday. Tracking shows that the package got to the local Fed Ex last Friday. I have been getting notices from Fed Ex every day for the past 3 days that the package was to be delivered that day and then each day around 1 pm I get another notice that Fed Ex was unable to deliver it that day and that it will be delivered the next day. I wonder what is going on--is there a shortage of drivers? Is Fed Ex so busy that my package never gets on the truck? Is it possible for me to drive to the local fed ex building and pick up the package (but I probably don't want to do that because of the virus.)
In my experience that is standard operating procedure for FedEx. The longest they have played that game of "Its on the delivery truck" with me is 21 days. That was about a year ago. In my case, they just don't want to drive out here. In your case the box may be large enough they choose to put more smaller packages on the truck. I've had UPS do that around Christmas time.

Here's how Prime Pantry is going these days:

I got a box from Prime Pantry this morning, a day earlier than promised and in perfect shape, delivered by an Amazon truck. I ordered it on March 27th.

Prime Pantry is still very limited in what items they offer, and only allow one or two of each item to be ordered. So, this was a relatively small ($45) box.

So, I just ordered another Prime Pantry box. They don't seem to mind. They allowed 2 of everything, but apparently they only had 1 can of soup left so they changed that from 2 cans to 1 can. This box was also small, and is scheduled for delivery on April 22nd.

I did get two each of some items (canned chicken breast, coffee, creamer, peanut butter, and spam) along with my one can of soup.

I found flour at our local mom and pop country store, but I still haven't found yeast anywhere, even online. I don't "need" it, but I have a recipe I've been wanting to make and yeast is the only thing holding me up.
You can "make" your own yeast. Simply Google "yeast starter". Basically, you take a jar or jug and mix equal amounts on non-clorinated water (let tap water sit in a jug for a day to dissipate chlorine) and flour (about 2 cups of each), a tablespoon of honey or sugar, cover the jar/jug opening with gauze and place the jug/jar in a warm place (70 to 80 deg. F.). Mix contents daily. Soon you should see some effervescence from the natural yeast from the air beginning to grow. After a week, refrigerate. Use a cup of the starter as your yeast to make bread and replenish the starter by adding a cup of water and yeast.

Why don't you just let someone who actually needs it now buy it from Costco. It's not acting on good luck when anyone overstocks on something in short supply.

If you buy too much you get blamed for hoarding. If you don’t buy enough you get blamed for making too many trips to the store.

You realize these two things actually feed off each other, right? Nobody is blaming anyone but this turns things into a vicious circle and screws up the supply chain for everybody.

We are trying to help out 3 different older relatives, which is slightly odd as we are SS eligible ourselves.
Yesterday, we dropped off a couple of N95 masks , and a pair of blue gloves per person, plus some food.

Now we are thinking of ordering delivery for them, to cut down on the shopping they currently need to do, due to a lack of computer skills.

Of course. If we keep telling people to stay at home they are going to buy as much as they can in the stores so that they don’t have to again for a long time. That feeds the hoarding frenzy.

I'd trade a bunch of TP for a N95 mask. :)

Some of us didn't have to go out searching for TP because we already had (back when Corona was just a beer in the American Lexicon) a "hoard" of TP.

I've already given some TP away (some to my ex and will be meeting - at a distance - a friend next week to give some TP).

Not only do I have toilet paper ,paper towels and lysol wipes but I am getting 5 boxes of girl scout cookies to hoard .

The next 3 days will be tough as people get lump payments on the first of the month, whether its because you get paid once a month or because you are on SNAP or some other social program. I went yesterday to Aldis and it only had about 5 people in the store and fully stocked in Cary NC. I purposely went the last day of the month as I knew my chances were good to get what I needed. Some grocery stores are still rotating supplies as they just don't have the staff to unload and restock the quantities being consumed, so somedays they stock fruit/veggies, some days they stock cleaning supplies which is annoying as you can't find everything all in one go.

I got a message from Walmart that my order was returned to them and I will get a refund. Fed Ex probably dropped and damaged it. Now I have to find it else where. Sigh

First, I have a daughter and three grand kids, so it's not like the need isn't there. I'm trying to balance having enough and not having any. So, as I get some, I'll release some and when I'm a bit over stocked, I'll give some away.

Also, you realize that there are people that can't go out of the house, right? If I post on Nextdoor and someone needs me to, I'll drop some on their porch. I'm quite confident that my actions are with good intent to first take care of my family and then to take care of the community around me.

Our little village of 250 homes, has a dedicated FEDEX contract driver who drives 4 hours just from the station and back. We are near the end of his daily route and his truck is still 1/2 full at 3PM. Lots of Chewy, and other pet food.

I had problems with two of the four packages I ordered from Amazon in March, one containing powdered milk (only) and being delivered by Fedex, and one containing liquid Tide Free He laundry detergent (only) and I don't recall who was delivering it. Both these items seemed almost impossible to find online at the time when I ordered them from third party sellers, and both were wildly overpriced.

Anyway, in both cases I was told that the package got to New Orleans on time or a day or two early, and was out for delivery, but in each case it was claimed that while being delivered the package leaked so the contents were thrown out and a refund was issued.

I bought both items for less money elsewhere once the demand for them slacked off.

I just tried to get a delivery time from Aldi, and there is no delivery time available. Fortunately, I am not yet out of any essential items. I have been in my home and yard 24/7 for over 3 weeks now. I live in Orange County, California. I heard from local friends that Costco is out of TP, paper towels, bottled water, sanitizer, etc.

I just received a large order from Peopod (Stop and Shop) that I reserved the delivery time on 3/22. To my surprise of the 84 items ordered only 5 were unavailable and 2 were substituted. No bad at all....This order would last 2+ weeks before needing some additional items of produce, milk and fruits...

The bad news is no new delivery slots available through 4/17 which is the last day on their schedule.

We have done 2 clicklist Kroger pickups in the last 10 days. First time, milk, OJ and bread was out of stock. Yesterday we picked up our 2nd order and got milk, OJ and bread. Also got some ice cream, 9 lbs. of ground beef and 2 chuck roasts 3lbs. ea. We are good for at least another 10 days now. Had plenty of TP and paper towels before so haven't had to try and find those.

Just went shopping at Publix and Harris Teeter, both out of toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, bleach, bottled water and low on milk, eggs, soup, read and sports drinks. We only had soup and milk on our shopping list today, not buying any more than normal, but you can’t miss the empty shelves.

It’s ridiculous that it continues, I’d think the [-]selfish morons[/-] hoarders are all well stocked by now. I sure hope we’ll be able to find these items when we need them. Thank goodness most people seem to acting in everyone’s best interests, shame on those who aren’t.

Our last three Chewy deliveries from FedEx have had significantly damaged cans of pet food. A year ago, we would get the same three case delivery from them, and hardly any cans were dented, and those that were had minor denting. Now, entire cans are crushed, and some of them have rim tops so bent that the pet can food covers won't completely seal the opened cans. I questioned whether this was the manufacturer, Chewy, or FedEx doing this, but based on other comments, I suspect FedEx is the source of the damaged cans.

Here in CT, even in the best of times you never want to go to the grocery on the first three days of the month, because that's when SNAP benefits arrive in people's EBT cards. Since this is the first EBT card reload since the panic buying really started, I expect the grocery stores to be mobbed even more than normal. I think I'll try on Monday.

Where we live we have plenty of TP, paper towels, milk, bread, eggs, meat, etc.

The only items out of stock on a regular basis are masks, goggles, bleach, wipes, and hand sanitizer.

We don't hoard but the moment we had our 1st CoVID-19 case I was able to pick up a box of masks and goggles for the family before the big rush.
