Bill Engvall is probably my favorite comedian in recent years.
Russell Peters is probably a close second.
Jim Gaffigan is also good.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of comedians rely on profanities for most of their acts. I'm no prude, but that's just not funny to me. I don't mind the occasional curse word, but if that's their entire act I lose interest quickly. People like Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy are two prime examples. If they're in a setting that prevents them from swearing (a movie or TV show), they can be hilarious. But without a little control, they're just offensive. Swearing is so pervasive that I rarely watch stand up comedy shows anymore.
I wish there were more "clean" comedians. The best comedians find humor in every day life situations. Insults and vulgar language are not funny (IMHO).
Going a little farther back, Robin Williams (of course), and Stephen Wright were a couple of my favorites.
