Covid Vaccine Distribution

I'm wondering when the drug that just requires one shot will be ready. I read that only one of the several vaccines being worked on are like that.

I suspect a google query might answer your question.

Yes. "The company plans to submit an emergency use authorization request to the FDA in February, according to Johnson & Johnson's statement." I wouldn't qualify before then anyway.

Things are beginning to come together. Heard from a friend today that he and his wife are scheduled to get the Moderna vaccine next Thursday. He just had to make a phone call, confirm that he was over 65, and got scheduled.

We have no idea when we'll be able to get it where I live, but at least it's good to know it's beginning.

It's crickets around here. Our local weekly paper says the local hospital has no information on when the vaccine will arrive in our county.

Florida's relatively few (so far) doses have gone to five hospitals, none near us.

A hospital very near me has it, but they're just giving it to the people at the top of the priority list. I'm fine with that.

+1

I have no need or desire to be the first person in line. The people at the top of the list have a genuine need to be given a higher priority than me.

Besides even if I didn't have to wait my turn, I probably would wait at least a couple of months; I would like to see a few million people get vaccinated before me, without much problem, before I go ahead with it. "Way-too-cautious" is my middle name and that attitude has served me well through the years in many aspects of life.

That's OK. The mass vaccination effort is going to take quite a while here in Louisiana:

Louisiana is receiving nearly 12,000 fewer doses of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine than initially thought in the second batch set to arrive next week, officials said Friday, the latest in a series of ups and downs for the state’s mass vaccination effort.
Gov. John Bel Edwards’ office said Friday afternoon the state will get 28,275 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine next week, down from the 40,000 the state had been told to expect.
In all, Louisiana hospitals have administered at least 11,498 doses, Stephen said, up from around 7,000 on Thursday.

Our local hospital was told they were going to receive a shipment, so they developed a plan and got freezers and personnel ready. But the shipment never came. And the state agency responsible for delivery said that they don't know when the hospital will start getting the vaccine.

I messaged my mother's doctor citing her age and just got back a boilerplate response that they're working on their distribution plans.

Why is it said that the Covid Vaccine provides immunization for several months, while polio, DPT, Shingles and many other vaccinations are good for life? Is this just an abundance of caution?

I had just looked this up so I googled it again to be sure, but shingrix does not last forever. They think it keeps 85pct effectiveness for 5 years but they really dont know how much after that.

A while back I had commented about the black market and gray market on this and someone poopoohed my thought like oh no, thats not going to happen. So I just want to bring it back up and say, boo to you.

Well they made inquiries through their boutique doctors.

Those boutique practices have applied for vaccine allocation.

I would think if it came out that the state allocated a lot of doses to these boutique doctors and they were basically giving them to the highest bidder, there would be a huge blowback.

Wow, where is this? Here in NC they are still scrambling to find enough vaccines for the front line medical workers and I understand that all the first shipment of Moderna vaccine is all going to nursing home staff and residents.

What happened after the 10th day? That's a cliffhanger! Was it, we followed for 10 days, everything is the same, or everything was the same for 10 days and then SHTF...
Not sure we really know, including the pros, but it takes a few days for symptoms to show up, and all were tested before getting the first shot, so I would think some started being exposed after first shot. Placebo group folks developed the virus and vaccine group didn’t. Just my guess

Nurse faints minutes after receiving Covid vaccine:

some nice scare porn...ever think maybe she was nervous in front of all those cameras?

As a regular blood donor, I've seen this story before. I've seen people walk into the donation center, get that look, and go down. Nobody even touched them.

20 plus years ago county nurses were at our high school to do a catchup on any missing vaccinations..ONE kid went down and then it was a total circus. They had to pack up and come back another day...men down just from watching a man go down...

Goes to show you, catchup is not a suitable alternative to a vaccine.

The claim is that she suffers from a known medical condition where she faints after the slightest pain (see second video). She seems like a very poor choice to be the public image of a person taking the vaccine. Could they not forsee this happening with her known condition?

I'm a submariner. I am really good at isolation.

Were you an officer with your own quarters on a submarine? From what I've been told that is about the only way to be isolated for more than about 5 minutes. :D

Back on topic...

I am waiting for the video of the supposed nurse crying as she tells us that the vaccine hurt somebody.

Vasoconstriction...an autonomic nervous system reaction that can be severe in some people (or even regular people if they have been fasting). It's why they make you sit down in a chair with a little shelf on it, to give blood. The shelf is to keep you from pitching forward out of the chair.
