On Fidelity, OLD NATIONAL BANK 4.800000 05/06/2024 02/06/2023
15 mon non-callable

Since Ally raised their savings rate, there’s a good chance that Discover, Capital One and Marcus will also since they’re all at 3.30%

Well Jay Powell raised rates another 1/4 point today and suggested there will be more increases and rates will stay up for some time (at least thru YE)... So from my POV, how many more increases, how much more and how long they will be maintained are still the questions?

So, I expect CD's will head up sightly in the coming weeks and the inversion will remain but "may" start to flatten on the longer terms. (maybe) I think we will see 5% for 9 to 18mo CD's to become common pretty soon. YMMV

Dots were projecting a cut beginning 2024. Meantime, yields fell across the board on today's news.

We will need some new inflation pressure to spike rates above their peak last year.

Wealthfront will increase from 3.8 to 4.05% effective on 2/3/23.

Capital One just announced a 5% (APY) 11 month online CD. Luckily I have a 100k waiting to be invested.

^^^^

I figured it would be a few more weeks before we started seeing 5% CD's (after the Fed's 1/4 point rate increase yesterday) so I'm not too surprised.

Good info.

Discover Bank reduced the rate on their 5-10 year CD's from 4.4% to 4.3%.

I was trying to buy a new issue CD on Fidelity, and the screen let me click on 'preview order' but nothing happens. No error message. Just the same screen again. Got out of the screen, reselected my CD and entered everything the screen asked for, clicked 'preview order' and the same thing happens. Stuck in this screen with no error message.

I'm using a brokerage link, if that makes any difference. All clues welcomed.
Make sure you don't have any ad blocking or site blocking enabled and try it.

Marcus just rolled out a $100 bonus for $10,000 in new money that sits for 90 days.

3.3% is the interest rate.

Easy to follow hurdles. I'm in.

Bask Bank online savings account just increased their interest to 4.25%.

I expect SWVXX to approach 4.5% over the next week or so if past behavior following Fed rate hikes continues.

Wow! I just stumbled onto this. it has me re-thinking my plans to consolidate. It seems they have B&Ms nearby. Even though this deal is for an online account I may go check them out. Anyone have experience with this outfit?
Looks interesting but I'm skeptical. Their mission page says:
We bring the backing of an FDIC-insured institution with the brains of a tech company.

Sort of reminds me of that outfit offering attractive rates that claimed to be FDIC insured but it really was that their deposits with FDIC insured banks were FDIC insured but your deposits with them were no FDIC insured.

They do say
While FDIC insurance covers $250,000,

More details, and (mixed) user experiences opening Primis Bank accounts here... https://www.depositaccounts.com/banks/primis/offers/

They're a legit B&M bank, with FDIC insurance, but it sounds like they're still getting the kinks out of their online banking option. We're going to open an account and transfer savings from Redneck Bank (the online version of All American Bank).

Primis is IMHO legit. I drove by two B&M locations today and stopped in to speak to a teller at one. One branch is in a AAA prime location. The other is in the county seat amidst the courthouses. I’m not a bit surprised that CSR feedback is weak as they are overwhelmed by response. The teller I spoke with said physical interaction is not encouraged but it is available. They have concierge service to limited areas if you need to cash a check they will come to your location!
