Thanks Scrabbler1, I went ahead and pulled the trigger, that deductible is crazy, but I guess that's they way the business runs these days. Again, thanks for sharing your experiences! And I hope you are well now and have a healthy year ahead! Kitty

    Oscar health insurance?

Hi scrabbler1 In a site search, I found your comments about Oscar on another thread, and your comments here are helpful as well as experience in the Long Island market. I am unclear though, was your hospitalization in 2015 under your BCBS? Or after 2016 when you were insured under OSCAR? Or...

    Oscar health insurance?

Ah, thank you for the Crain's article. I am aware of the network changes and will still have two of my three regular drs., and the hospital network that I am happy with. (Long Island). They have let go of some very overblown and over-expanded networks, and retained some excellent ones in NYC...

    Oscar health insurance?

Hi all, My Cobra will be ending soon, I am 60 and I am in NY state. I am struggling to find an insurer that will allow me to use the hospital near me, I don't mind switching dr. but feel strongly about the hospital. I can choose a reasonably priced OSCAR plan (covers my hospital and current...

Florence and Tuscany, only one week?

Bumping up for Hardatit, the honeymooner asking for help with Europe. I have been able to make some decisions, and will fly (NY-JFK) to Milan, spend a day or so there, and take the train to Florence for 6 nights. We found an apartment from VRBO we are happy with, and should be able to...

Need tips on a trip to Europe for my honeymoon

I recently got great advice from this group in a thread in the Travel forum section for my one week trip to Florence and Tuscany. I will go bump it up and add my recent planning to it, you might find it helpful! The thread is titled "one week only in Florence and Tuscany" or something close...

Florence and Tuscany, only one week?

Wow, you guys are amazing...there is so much good advice here! Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about my time limits for now, but I am sure I will revist this area again in future trips. I was in Rome many years ago, but this will be a different experience, as we both can afford...

Florence and Tuscany, only one week?

Except a week is not enough that's for sure, but it's either a week at a time, or not at all! So we did Paris this way 2 years ago, too short but the best I can manage to be away for. Staying in the countryside sounds absolutely wonderful! Since we are pressed for time, I want to do as...

Florence and Tuscany, only one week?

Planning a week in Florence with a friend in May. We are 60 yr old females, spouses not interested. Time limited due to eldercare issues here at home. Thinking vrbo/airbb, using an apartment in Florence as a home base and doing day trips into Tuscany to Sienna and Lucca perhaps. Is that...

    Fixer upper investment house situation

I am coming out of lurkdom to mention the Florida county and city permitting and inspection process. Doing a kitchen remodel in a nice area of Broward County caused me much time delays, project changes and upgrades needed to stay in code. And forget about resale if all code items are not...

electrical engineers? do you know what this tube is?

It's hard to read even with magnifying glass. It does look like ITT, very hard to read. I see others with the wood ends, can be older, Dad started the job I think in the late 40's I'd guess so he might have one laying around from a pocket or something. thanks!

electrical engineers? do you know what this tube is?

Ah, the word "lamp" was a help. I found a similar one on ebay that is a switchboard lamp. It appears to be from 1973, which works in my timeframe. thanks guys! (gal/guy)

electrical engineers? do you know what this tube is?

So, I found this little tube in my deceased father's dresser box, among the tie tacks and cuff links. Would like to know what it is before I throw it away, tried to identify it on ebay but it's too confusing. So where can I find an engineer? Oh, ask the FIRED ones! Somebody will know. HINT...
