    The one more year syndrome

Thanks for the comments and telling your transition away from work. To answer a few questions that was asked. We live in a very small town around 1100, and going with part time has very few options, either at a gas station or Doller General... would prefer to not go that rout. I walk to work...

    Investing for teenager

Thanks for sharing about your grandsons investing journey, glad to hear that he wants to put the bulk of it in an index fund, and not looking at the portfolio weekly is a good thing. Thanks, its nice to keep it simple and get returns that the broad market provides. Its always tempting to add...

    Investing for teenager

I didn't think the returns form a total market fund differed much from a 500, but would be just as simple to start with that. Thanks for recommending "If you can". I will try and persuade her into reading it.

    Investing for teenager

Going to start with $2000, so have enough to split it up a little, but leaning on starting with 100% stocks for now. And we explained the swings up and down and she said she wont mind. Be interesting to see how she feels about it after it happens. That's a nice thing that you started for great...

    Investing for teenager

Started a custodial account at Fidelity for our 13 year old. She likes the idea of being able to be FI someday, but unfortunately has very little interest in learning about investing, she just said "buy what will make me the most". Trying to keep it simple and not end up with multiple funds...

    The one more year syndrome

Thanks for mentioning a few numbers from our thread Feb. 2022. That was when we first felt we were close to ER and didn't have our numbers accurate. Looking closer at our budget, we found we won't need to withdraw nearly what we originally thought. One big thing we overlooked was still adding...

Thanks for the replies, and mentioning omy. I sometimes struggle finding what I am searching for and only found a few old post, but omy brings a lot of results.

    The one more year syndrome

Would like to get feedback from some of you that ER but found yourself stuck in "the one more syndrome" after you reached the financial number you spent decades working and sacrificing to achieve. Seems like something is always going on in the world to make a person think they better work a...

    Twisted ankle 4 years ago

Thanks everyone for sharing your injury and outcome, and suggestions. Got a price for an ankle x-ray from a podiatrist and was over $600, so going to try some PT at home for a couple months first.

Thanks for sharing what you are doing, I will try those also. I just got done the standing on tip of foot method, and sure felt something going on in the ankle area.

    Twisted ankle 4 years ago

I thought about just going in and getting the x-ray now to see if anything is wrong, but in the unlikely case that surgery would be needed, I am not sure what kind of noise the insurance would make after having it on record needing something done while under high deductible plan, and than...

They didn't do an x-ray or anything really when I went in shortly after it happened, I think they should have. I am considering switching from high deductible insurance to standard for a year and have it looked at closer, but will try some stretches an PT that was mentioned first.

Thanks for sharing the tip about PT and standing on toes, I will give that a try.

Thanks, that is actually reassuring. I was concerned it might get worse with age.
