Best Merrill Lynch Edge Money Market?

Saw something very similar with my wife. She was a school teacher and was required to work through a 3rd party administrator to invest in their 403b. The administrator was very deceptive and tried to steer her to their house funds with high fees and loads. It was only after pressing them hard...

    tent suggestion?

My wife and I love our Northface Wawona. It comes in 4 and 6 person sizes. We have the 6 person size as we like the extra room for car camping. It does very well in the weather and has dealt with heavy rain and hail storms quite well. It is designed and constructed very nicely. No rain fly...

    Over my head

The WSJ did a story awhile back about the extremely deceptive tactics used by “advisors” to direct 403b monies for teachers. My wife and I saw this first hand. Without going into detail, the advisor, when asked about low cost index options pulled out a bunch of funds I was not familiar with, all...

Under the MegaCorp covers during a Pandemic

I still have some close ties to my former MegaCorp and they are definitely reacting. All job reqs are frozen, 401k match suspended, bonuses suspended, selected layoffs, and the biggest surprise, which didn’t occur in the last recession, across the board pay cuts. Very, very surprised at the...

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I didn’t go back but it may have been helpful. Was happy that 3rd season continued strong. Based on the season 3 ending, season 4 looks to start off fast. Will have to wait awhile though : )

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Loved Ozark season 3. After watching full season I think I’ve seen one of the best acting performances I’ve seen in a very long time. Will not spoil but it’s a riveting performance that draws you in.

    Sedona AZ

Love the Sedona area. An absolutely beautiful hike, that is very manageable, is West Fork trail. It follows along a river and leads you through a beautiful canyon. The elevation gain is fairly easy so it makes a great day hike. Bring a lunch and you’ll have a beautiful morning or afternoon.

    Gouging

Happy that I live in a primarily free market economy where there is competition for the cost of goods and services! Happy that I live near a Costco for lower gas prices! Unhappy I have a state Govt, CA, that is happy to tax gas high enough to be $1.00 to 1.50 per gallon higher than neighboring...

Great looking car Canoesmith! I think that design will remain fresh for a long time.

car people - suggest a toy

To this day I still miss the S2000. Also, it looks like the depreciation slowed dramatically after I’d sold. Clean versions are challenging to find now.

Net just passed $3MM, $2.9MM invested, cannot FIRE!?

Cut-Throat. Not sure that is a fair assessment of the OPs post. Looks pretty close to the types of questions that are posted regularly.

car people - suggest a toy

One car not mentioned so far. A Honda S2000. This was one of my favorite cars ever and am still sorry I sold mine. They have a bullet proof engine and a great manual 6 speed. Look for one that has not been overly modified and you’ll have a very fun car. I like Miatas as well but the Honda is a...

    Smaller BBQ for grilling

I concur with the Weber suggestions. A bit more costly than the op is looking for but I’ve had great experience with the Weber grills and have found their quality and customer support superior to the next level brands.

    Prices in Hawaii?

That is both our favorite spot, and method, for a great Hawaii vacation! Have you found Kilauea Fish market?

How long do you keep cars?

For our main cars used for commuting, and day to day stuff, we’re usually getting from 150k to 200k in miles before selling. My current Honda is going strong at 196k and I love it still. Looks and runs great. Toyota’ and Honda’s have been our best vehicles for the most part. Starting, though, to...
