    Monoclonal Gammopathy

Unfortunately, mine seems to be at the smoldering stage (the one after MGUS) which carries a higher probability of it progressing to multiple myeloma. I saw my hematologist yesterday. While he's not yet ready to issue a formal diagnosis (more tests need to be done first), based on my labs he...

    Monoclonal Gammopathy

It's a precursor to cancer. It can progress to multiple myeloma, which is blood cancer. My lab numbers are worsening. Thanks for the wishes.

    Monoclonal Gammopathy

What's that saying? People plan and God laughs? It appears I have a monoclonal gammopathy. I haven't gotten a final diagnosis yet, and I don't think I have multiple myeloma, but it sure looks like things are headed in that direction. I'm only 57. I guess I don't need to worry about planning...

Things Are Starting to Get Real

Thanks. To be clear, the 66x and 38x is taking the pension into consideration. In other words: NW/(EXPENSES - PENSION) It's not as if the pension is on top of the 66x and 38x.

:) Oh, no - she received my full-throated support. We're nervous, of course, but happy.

Things Are Starting to Get Real

I retired at the end of 2017. Since then, my wife has continued to work. Today she decided that she's had enough and will retire in the next few months. Not that it would change our retirement decisions, if you have any reaction to the details below I'd really appreciate hearing them. Late...

    Umbrella Insurance

Curious - why doesn't it have to cover your net worth? To answer the OP's question: Our umbrella insurance covers our entire NW. It's the max our insurance company will cover. I'm not sure what we'll do if/as our NW goes up.

    Blow that Dough 2023

Just returned from a 2-week holiday in Kenya. Flew business class (on miles). Made plans for next year for two holidays - one to Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam flying business class (on miles), and the second to Egypt and Jordan (maybe in premium economy/economy plus if we don't have enough...

    Fixed Income Investing II

Not interested. Unfortunately, the person who started the original post and contributed what many thought to be helpful information, and who was lauded by many here, seems to have been run off by a cabal that currently remains - a cabal that, in my view, are the ones who started all the trouble...

What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

My pet peeve of the day: People who are completely incapable of making a point while engaged in a disagreement - as good as that point may be - without being complete a-holes about it. I guess it's the anonymity of the internet that brings out the worst in some people.
