Financial Planner - Fee to Create Financial Plan

I've been looking for this service for 2 years. Every single time it's become a pitch for AUM. Or an Annuity. Every.Single.D**n.Time. Or the people who my CPA recommended who supposedly might still do it for a fee only? They don't return my calls. Definitely following this thread.

    Medicare Poll

This is interesting, but not all that helpful for you. The plans available to you vary greatly by your state, even by your zipcode. BTW, I am on Medicare original Part A, Part B, with a AARP/United Healthcare Med Supp/Gap and a Wellcare Part D for scrips. I am also a licensed Medicare agent...

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

I wasn't complaining about the items quality. It was about the deceptive advertising of whether or not the item was in stock, removal of negative reviews, and lack of communication regarding changes in shipping times/delays. Not just a day or two in shipping delays, closer to three months...

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

Update on Wayfair Thanks to everyone for all the good points made, -- the BBB complaint did work which shocked me. I didn't think companies really cared about BBB anymore. Anyway, I got a call from a Wayfair customer service advocate in response to the BBB complaint today and she offered a...

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

BTW - I also filed a complaint with BBB in the Boston area, where Wayfair's headquarters are located. Basically the unfair and deceptive advertising trade practices of allowing good reviews, (but no negative reviews) -- plus selling stuff as in stock which they don't have.

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

Completely agree on the idea of not purchasing furniture from online. But my SO insisted. So now he has the job of finding the furniture that fits the requirements. It took weeks of research to find this item - color, size, rails on the drawers, mostly wood, platform -- not much mfd, Under...

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

WOW! Good to know -- I'm seriously angry now. This might warrant a complaint to a governmental agency. Won't make a difference, but might make Wayfair folks a little miserable. You can't take bad reviews down, that's complete bad acting.

    Wayfair Now Horrible?!

If you are like me, and have used Wayfair for fairly decent furniture deals in order to save money? BEWARE. They've had my $1500 since November 2023, and just randomly changed the delivery date to mid-April. It was going to be late January. SIX MONTHS. 1. Not only did they not notify me...

Roth Conversions of Low Return Below Par Market Value Bonds

Hello, Betty! That's great news! Well, it's news that mitigates some of the low rate returns I locked into anyway. Thank you!

Roth Conversions of Low Return Below Par Market Value Bonds

Dumb question perhaps, but here I am again at the well, asking for help. I have a low yield bonds (3%) in my Fidelity IRA. Of course, the value on the bond market is lower than par. For example purposes, say its a $10,000 Corporate bond is only worth $8,000 on the market at this time, so it...

    Optimizing a Fixed Income Ladder

Personally, would never buy a bond fund unless it was a defined-maturity fund. Learned that the hard way through BND at Vanguard and a few others that were promised to be "great for retirees!" I've gotten out of as much of that as I can, even at a loss. Fund managers have to keep buying bonds...

    whole life with LTC rider

Wow, No RMDs? I thought all annuities had RMD provisions -- whatever you are getting from the annuity each year IS the RMD. I'm going to need to look this up, it sounds very interesting. If you don't make it to 95, does your beneficiary get any refund of cash value or premium?

    Botched hospital discharge-rehab needed

Google Medicare QIO, beneficiary protection hotline. There is one for your area. That person will return the call quicker than the patient advocate.

    Botched hospital discharge-rehab needed

Yes. I had forgotten about this until I read your post. Kicking her out without having rehab arranged was awful. You could also call the beneficiary protection QIO for your area, there should be a hotline to complain to. The folks answering the phone will try to intervene on her behalf as...

    Rent a house through VRBO?

Just completed a VRBO rental. Would not recommend. It was very pricey -- mostly fees that go to the cleaning service and platform. The photos looked great, and all the reviews looked great, but now I know why. There's a lot of pressure now to leave positive reviews. Ours was an owner...

    Hiring a retirement planner

Good to know! Congrats on getting support that you appreciate. Would you mind sharing what type of planner? Was it someone at Fidelity or Vangaurd? A local CFP? A CPA maybe? An independent person with Fisher Investments? I'm still looking. Any info is appreciated.

    Hiring a retirement planner

Order of withdrawals is one of my biggest questions. I already have an idea, but I'd like a second set of eyes to ensure I didn't miss a gotcha somewhere. The last three "planners" I interviewed wouldn't help me with that unless I went AUM. The planner I interviewed yesterday said "you are...

agree. Personal capital (now Empower) has the level of detail you are speking of, but it requires that you are one of their clients (AUM). Tried that already and said "no way!"
