    Reverse Mortgage

If a good chunk of that $2 million is in taxable open a securities-backed line of credit at your broker. Interest rate for that is usually cheaper than for a margin loan.

Restaurant adding fee for use of credit card

tl;dr local family-owned place I go to for breakfast only I pay cash since I like them a lot & don't want to pay the fee. but I go on the "customer's choice of any breakfast plate" days so it's only $10 which includes tax & tip. other family-owned place I visit for breakfast/dinner charges 3%...

Love it...currently on the annual 30GB/month plan which was $250 last Black Friday. Hope the $10GB/month plan normally $180 gets discounted this coming Black Friday.

    First million is enough

May you enjoy many more years of retirement! Like a close relative who retired with a modest (but COLA) pension, paid-off house, & essentially free retiree health care until Medicare. But they probably had under $100k in total savings when they retired back in early 1994. Yup, they are now 30...

Nationwide Peak® 10 fixed indexed annuity

another equity-indexed (now renamed "fixed-indexed") annuity. the insurance company keeps all dividends for themselves & caps your return to single digits (e.g 7% even if the underlying index rises double-digits that year!) note that the cap rate can be lowered at their discretion...that...

    Your recent repair? - 2021 to ?

It's amazing how many problems come down to a worn-out relay. E.g., the A/C on a 15-year-old older vehicle was cycling on & off. Which many would diagnose as too low a refrigerant charge, but after replacing the original under-hood A/C relay it runs just fine again.

    oil and gas

Oh, yeah, I "got sold" various forms of these, by brokers who get high commissions. They do front-load expenses and you are a general partner usually for the first couple of years, so you can offset those expenses against your ordinary income. So they might make sense for those making hundreds...

    Vacation home/cabin use?

Uninsulated cabin in the mountains built by grandparents early 1960s. Even here in the South it is only usable May through October. Finally got internet a couple of years ago when the co-op ran fiber...before that only a phone line.

    Your recent repair? - 2021 to ?

Just a FYI for those with the older GFCI outlets with no LED. I had to replace the one in the master bath which protects several other bathroom outlets. Couldn't figure out why the new one (with LED) wouldn't reset until I switched the "load" & "line" pairs. Since the original had been hooked...

    Moved into CCRC today

I've seen over a $1 million (no refund) for a married couple mentioned on another forum. Hopefully that was for Type A! Though those depend on the depth of their reserves to meet the Type A commitments. Grandparents moved into a non-Type A, 2BR/2BA cottage at a local CCRC back in the early...

    New Car Dealer REQUIRES Financing

dealers get a payment if you take the OEM financing so they want you to take it. they'll often ask you to wait 3 months before paying it off so they don't have that payment clawed back by the manufacturer. it's often in your best interest to take the financing, even if you have to make a few...
