    Am i good to go?

My wife is still working. However I think that her BS bucket is getting filled up so my guess is that she pulls the plug anywhere from 1-3 yrs. Our average WDR has been 1.4% post covid. When she retires it will increase to ~3%.

    Am i good to go?

I teach 1 class a semester that meets once per week for 2.5 hrs. The pay is $3,300 so it's pizza and beer money. I do it because I really enjoy it. I'd likely do it for free, but don't tell them that...:coolsmiley:

    Am i good to go?

Thanks for the input Bill. Our spending as averaged about $120K in the last few years. Last year it was at $158K but that included a couple of big one-time events. My plan would be a WR of 3-3.5% after she retires. Of course that will drop at age 70 once SS kicks in. I'm just a whimp thinking...

    Am i good to go?

Retirement update - 4 years in Hello all! I just realized that I never posted a follow up on my retirement on 9/28/19. As you can read from the beginning, this forum was very valuable to me in gaining the insight and courage to pull the plug. I am happy to report that retirement has been...

Struggling to get off the OMY bandwagon

I must agree with street. I'm coming up on 3 yrs of retirement. Retired at 58 at the top of my career. Left a C-suite position with a company I really liked, a great leadership team, and left a bunch of money on the table. Also left on my terms as everyone was shocked with my announcement...

    Net worth Today

I remember hitting the first $1M and not feeling any different. Almost immediately I do remember thinking how I was 1 or 2 down days to not being a millionaire and I instantly longed to be a multi-millionaire. After hitting $2M same feeling...I'm a couple of down days away from being just a...

Made my number a while ago, now need some courage

Big Congratulations to you!! I like many on here went through a similar struggle like you in finally pulling the trigger. I also consulted with this great forum to get advice and encouragement as my past posts indicate. I retired in October 2019 and have zero regrets. Like many here have...

My net worth has increased 74% since I retired 4 years ago

I retired 18 months ago and my financial assets are +34%. I still cannot believe this. Started with a 75/25 AA but that has drifted to 82/18 with the markets performance. I cannot stomach rebalancing with the current bond market environment. Plus, 1) with the wife still working our...

    Gave my notice today!

Congrats to you! Sounds like everything fell into place and you had the guts to make the right choice. I pulled the plug in Sept of 2019 at 58 and have loved every minute of it. No regrets and never looked back. Market has been a roller coaster but holding on has paid off handsomely. It's an...

49 and $5M in Retirement - Having trouble FIREing myself

Not sure what you mean by "mere mortals", but the OP said he was a CFO. I was simply sharing my current experience that seasoned successful C-level talent is in high demand. I retired last October and it was in high demand pre-covid as well as post-covid.

49 and $5M in Retirement - Having trouble FIREing myself

OP, I retired about a year ago. Like you I was also was in a pressure cooker C-suite role at a very successful company. I retired at 58, with about $4M NW, kids out of the house, college and grad school already paid for, and a lower annual burn rate. My prior posts detail my challenge in...

2021 - My Time to FIRE?

Haha...don't worry Bill. Once I get my retirement sea legs underneath me a bit and the Covid/travel situation gets back to normal, we plan to ratchet the spending up quite a bit and blow plenty of that dough!!

2021 - My Time to FIRE?

Hi there! I totally understand what you're going through. The details of my situation are posted somewhere on here as I was in your situation in Dec 2018. I finally pulled the plug last October and I've been loving my new life. Our assets and withdrawal rate are almost identical to you. Main...

    Retired this week at 58

Congratulations on your retirement!! I also retired at 58 last October. Sometimes I feel kinda guilty that all of my friends still have to wake up and go to work everyday. Freedom is not underrated. You will love it!!

...and I thought I was ready

Give your notice today and start pursuing those passions! I just retired last October and it's been a really cool change of pace. And I liked my job...but it was not as good as freedom!

One year into RE, only 34 more to go.

I'm only 3 months into retirement and surprisingly the transition has been easier than I expected and I've not really stressed over the numbers at all. I guess this just confirms that I was more than ready to jettison all of the stress and travel. I'll tell you one great feeling...I had the...

    Circa One Year Update

+1. Go for it. I pulled the plug at the end of September and I'm loving it. I've got similar numbers to you except a more aggressive AA at 76/12/12. As noted above I've got a big cash/short term bond cushion to ride out the inevitable correction. With the flat yield curve and thin spreads...

    Pulling the trigger but...

This is so true. I just pulled the plug in October but I've been FI for several years and spent some time in OMY. In the last 8 years of my career I was in a C-level position. FI gave me the freedom to really speak my mind and break the "group think" mentality that permeates many leadership...

    Am i good to go?

Well it turns out that so far I'm enjoying being retired. I turned down the offer. It was supposedly only to be a 20-25 hour per week commitment but the thought of jumping back into something was just unsettling. I'm really enjoying my freedom and the decompression process. November will be...

    Am i good to go?

I will definitely post updates. All pretty surreal now. Weird being disconnected from my 100 mph norm but I do not miss it. One curve-ball...I already got a job offer that is local and could be very lucrative. No hard details until next week. When approached I could not say flat out NO...so...
