    Poll: What generation are you?

I never heard of it. but I guess I'm from the Silent Gen. I was stationed in Ramstein Germany when JFK was shot. Three years later I was sent to Vietnam. My high school class is more than 50% gone, so I am lucky.

    AFIB is a Progressive Disease

Six months after my ablation I was taken off Eliquis. I had been required to wear a small heart monitor for a week prior to stopping Eliquis. Cardiologist says I am fine, take baby aspirin, and resume anything, including exercise. The ablation was easy, as was recovery. I haven't noticed any...

After 6 years of aggressive travel: pickpocketed!

In Barcelona. I was going up on escalator. Guy in front spilled coins and blocked us. I tried to help him. This setup had the guy behind me pick my back pockets. Fortunately, I had put our passports in my underwear and my wallet in front pocket. All he got was my glasses case. Lucky me.

    Things to be grateful for

I'm grateful for DW, who has stayed with me 58 years. Im grateful that our investments are much higher than when I retired. I'm grateful for my health. which gave me a scare recently, but the docs saved me. We're both 80, have 2 grandkids and one great grandkid. I've been retired for 20 years...

    Paper Ibonds Redemption Options

This exactly. I had to type each bond number into Treasury Direct. And yes TD notifies me when a bond is/has expired and no longer earning interest. I saved those paper copies for years and am so happy to do things electronically.

    Paper Ibonds Redemption Options

I sent mine to Treasury Direct. No problem and they notify me when they are no longer acquiring interest so I can redeem them. Then they send cash to my bank.

Anyone Else Soured on Dining Out?

Since I'm living in Texas, Mexican (texmex) food is always on. I seldom go a week without it and usually buy takeout and eat at home. When we lived in Louisiana we ate a lot of Cajun food (shrimp, crabs gumbo, etc.). We get takeout as opposed to eating in the restaurant. Being retired we...

    AFIB

Agree. I am nowhere near a real athlete. However I am not feeble, either. I never expected AFIB, and with no symptoms was surprised when they put me in hospital. I want to be like J. J. Watt. If I got the news right, his heart was shocked into rhythm on Thursday, and he played on Sunday...

    AFIB

Good thing I was monitoring my blood pressure. The monitor indicated normal BP but a pulse of 152. An hour later pulse 74. Later 152. Up and down for a couple of weeks. NO Other Symptoms. No racing heartbeats, no pain, no gasping for breath, nothing. I went to my family physician who...

    Post Cataract surgery

I had both eyes done in March, 2 weeks apart. Toric lenses and I've had no problems. I use readers for closeup reading small print. Just before surgery, they kept asking "which eye are we doing today?" I did the drops routine, each eye for a week. Driving at night is possible, now!
