I knew a guy from my previous employer. His dad worked for the same company for 55 years when he finally retired.

The son told me he was going to retire early as there was no way he was going to be a slave to his job. He said this after being on the job for 35 years with the same company. He did retire a while ago...after 37 years.

Not exactly what I would have in mind but I guess it is all relative.
