All Time Favorite TV Series

And, of course, MASH
And The Avengers for Diana Rigg (long before GoT)

For modern humor
Scrubs

Modern drama has some very good choices
Rome
Mad Men
Boardwalk Empire
House of Cards
Breaking Bad
Justified
Fargo
+1

St Elsewhere in its early years and then ER. The latter is still the best medical drama ever IMHO.

Glad to see Star Trek getting some mention.
Also saw Fringe (those that havent watched this should binge watch it)

I would also add to the long list of really good series.

Longmire
Rockford Files (not sure if I saw that one mentioned)
Dr Who.... Did this get missed somewhere along the way?

Love Longmire....( Robert Taylor does pretty good for an Aussie in the role), started reading the books...make a grab whenever I find one in a thrift store.

Loved West Wing and Sports Night
Antiques Roadshow
American Experience
WKRP in Cincinnati....I’m giggling now just thinking of it.....”As God is my witness I thought turkeys could fly”

The West Wing tops out as my all-time favorite. Close second would be M.A.S.H..

Other notable mentions:
Firefly
Dr. Who
Star Trek: The Next Generation (my favorite of the various iterations)
Boston Legal

Totally forgot about;
Northern Exposure
The Rockford Files
King of the Hill
Sherlock on PBS
Hogan’s Heroes
Get Smart
Poirot on PBS

Too many to list, but I will list a small sample. The Fugitive with David Janssen, The Andy Griffith Show, Becker, WKRP in Cincinatti. Also, Lotsa Luck with Dom Deluise. It's funny. No, it won't make any all time greatest list, but it's good.

I have not found a current show that makes me take notice yet. It's like the writers have run out of original ideas or maybe the actors aren't as good as in the past.

Midsommer Murders

I have always liked Midsommer Murders too, but I get it for free on PBS. Tom Barnaby's cousin, John Barnaby, has taken over now, but it's just as good. I like a lot if the British mysteries, period pieces, and comedies, but so many on my PBS in Dallas are in the 4th, 5th, or 6th round if reruns.

I also was a big Dallas fan when it first came out, but mostly because I had just moved back to Oregon from Dallas, where I lived just a few blocks from those gold towers they showed at the beginning of each episode. They are no longer here, but at the time it helped my homesickness to see all the old familiar places.

Here are a few that haven't been mentioned so far that I enjoyed:
Mannix
Night Court
Bosch

Top Bottom
