Britain's Prime Minister Johnson in ICU; pregnant partner also showing symptoms

From the New York Times. Johnson told the world on March 22nd that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and went into isolation. However, he hadn't been heard from since Saturday.

He's 55 and his much younger partner is expecting a baby.

His case sounds like exactly what we've heard: linger for a week and then deteriorate rapidly.

Or his partner does. He is probably beyond regrets at this point, poor man.

Well, to be fair, a LOT of folks weren't making a big deal about it a few weeks ago. Our mayor has taken some pretty drastic steps (in line with restrictions similar to NYC) and just a couple of weeks ago, yet he posted a picture of himself with a very large group having dinner at a local restaurant. He has since erased the picture, but as we all know...it lives on.

Boris Johnson unfortunately is in a risk category that many people who get this virus are finding themselves regardless of age. At the hospital where my brother works, two weeks ago they had four patients in the ICU, now they have twenty one. They are finding that overweight and obese people have poorer outcomes regardless of age. This consistent with other hospitals across the country are finding. The have lost six patients already ranging in age from 33 to 74. The are starting to do brain scans in addition to chest scans of patients that are admitted to the hospital for observation.
