So I stopped full time work in favor of part time/intermittent. I planned pre tax health insurance payments as a self employed person. That part is straight forward. I thought I could buy a "business" insurance plan but I see that eligibility for the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) health insurance requires at least one non-spouse employee. I haven't contacted any insurers yet but is even possible for them to sell me business health insurance?

I looked into this a couple years ago for my wife and I but had no luck. I was also a member of some professional organizations that claimed to offer health insurance but they did not work out for my area. I’m still interested in finding a national PPO plan like the ones I had while working but have pretty much given up hope for that. All we can get is the limited HMO ACA plans offered in our area.
