Considering Residential Window Tinting

My friend bought a house with tinted windows because Nevada’s sun is hot but it made her house dark. She had her husband remove the tinting film that was on it. Much brighter now and looks better.

I live in a condo building built in 2007. We have floor to ceiling windows that are commercial grade aluminum frames and double pane glass. The two people I have known who had tinting film applied had their windows crack after a while. VERY expensive to replace. How do you prevent the glass from overheating and cracking with tint films?

We would never be allowed solar screens since they would impact the appearance too much.
