Hello all. Wishing everyone had a great New Year.

My wife and I decided to take a trip to Florence Italy and decided to splurge a little (since we might be able to travel after this due to health reasons) and booked Delta One tickets for two with Delta Airlines, selected our seats and paid for the tickets. However, when we received the email confirmation, I have my seating assignment but my wife's seats do not appear but says "select seats"

We tried again to select seats for her but Delta website would not accept it. We called Delta customer service and was told thats because she is on "stand by" and must pay another $760 for her to get seats assignment. we decided to pay it.

Checked Delta website today and not only my wife still has no seat assignment but my own seat assignment also disappeared. Talked to several customer service and nobody knows what happened or what to do. Nobody can give an answer or give any solution in fixing it.( after hours wait on the phone)

My question would be, would we just go to the airport on the date of departure and hope we can get a seat? Can we get denied boarding (bumped) if we have no seat assignment? or do we keep trying to call Delta to get seat assignments to be sure we can be on that flight? Sorry for the long rant but wondering if anyone has experienced this? Thanks
BTW, tickets were booked with Delta but the flights are codeshared with Air France.

We fly Delta a lot and have not had this happen. Had a codeshare with KLM once. The problem may be in connecting with Air France. I would keep trying. I wouldn't think that any seats in !st are bad, although the front bulkhead is not great. You might also try calling Air France. Good luck.

That's normal these days; I've had the same thing happen in recent years.

What has worked is going to the other airline, Air France in this case, and entering your confirmation code (and usually last name) to find the reservation. Then you should be able to use the seat selection on their website.

I've done this several times and never had a problem with it. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies. I always booked delta and never had any problems till now. what's frustrating is when they tell you they don't know or could not do anything. I will try to call Air France too and see if they have my flight on thier records since most of our flights are Air France.
just wanted to be sure my wife get on a flight too and not be left behind. Heard and read too many horror stories about flying lately.

Wow, that stinks. For that money, you should have an easy experience. But we have a Delta/AirFrance to Italy in a few days and had the oddest experience ever. Economy class because I am a cheapskate and because I want to sit with spouse and by the window. AF referred me to Delta for seat selection. I chose a near-the-back row to be behind the wing. But when I checked all the seat review sites, they said that plane doesn't even have that many rows! I called Delta, who said that it did. But I had a funny feeling and paid extra to change to "preferred" economy seats (tickets were bought with points) because I feared that if they had sold us non-existent seats that our chances of being bumped were greater. So I agree-maybe something with that Delta/AirFrance partnership. Safe and pleasant travel!

Its really been stressful. almost $9T paid in total and can't even get an answer if we have a seat or not or of my wife is on "stand by". needed to book delta one since wife has bad knees and will be hard on her in tight spaces sitting down.

Issue finally solved!

Thanks for the advice that I should try to call Air France. All my booking were there and they gave us all our seat assignments and confirmation number. yohoo! Delta for some reason, even thought booked thru their website, had no idea what to do and could't help us. Air France did
.
Thanks specially to braumiester. Been a long time lurker and always relied on this site and the knoweagble members here.

Thanks

Awesome! One less thing to have to worry about.

Need to keep this in mind for future reference.

Yep, it's all because of the code share. I'm honestly surprised you got your seat assignments this early. Typically if you're flying on a code share airlines you don't get your seat assignment until 24 prior.

Another thing. Unless your flight is coming up fairly soon, don't be surprised if the times on one or both legs of our flights get changed. Happens all the time these days on international flights. Everyone one of my last years international flights had this happen. Just keep an eye on the flight status for changes. They don't always notify you as quickly as you would think.

Also, assuming your connections are through CDG, it can be a nightmare finding your new gate unless you have plenty of time. Don't take a tight connection.
