I just got a crown put on a molar 10 days ago. The first few days there was a pronounced coppery taste to the crown, mixed in with a "root beer" taste and a hot peppery sensation. And yes, I'm not kidding, it felt like effervescence in the saliva on top of the crown, when touching it with my tongue.
Have not called the dentist to ask about this yet. Probably would think I was crazy. Will call him in a few days.
Starting about day 8, all those characteristics have abated quite a bit. The only thing happening now is a slight coppery taste.
The crown is an alloy of gold. Before getting the crown, I made sure to ask the dentist for his suggestion for a "trouble free" crown material and he suuggested the gold alloy which I have.
I never dreamed the gold alloy crown would have a taste and a peppery sensation.
Has anyone has an experience like this with a crown ?
