I've played some violin in the past....recently, mandolin and octave mandolin. Last week I bought a...gasp.....banjo. I'm giving clawhammer banjo a try. Bought a Parlor Deering banjo.....

Fun!

I've played guitar since age 8. I fooled around with a banjo (not clawhammer) many years ago. The Parlor is the shorter banjo, right?
When I retired, my brother gave me a ukulele. That's been fun.

What is playing a mandolin like? I haven't tried that one.

I started out with violin....hurt my back and couldn't play. Switched to mando....just too high pitched and I switched to octave. My hands are small...octave too big. Giving the smaller banjo a try. Mando is nice though....quiet, which I like. I have ordered a mute for the banjo....even the smaller parlor version is noisy as hell. I'm a morning person....so I don't want to kill my wife if I practice early.

Ha! Given the title I thought maybe you were claiming SS at 62, or taking on a financial planner, or maybe even buying an annuity :)
