eFile/ePay: Great Idea Ruined by Bureaucracy

I never efile for CA - even if they owe me a lot of money... I can wait the 8-12 weeks for my refund.

I efile the federal income tax if I'm owed a refund... I send paper versions if I owe.

I use TurboTax and see the state returns as the real money maker for Intuit. Filing state returns can quickly become more expensive than the federal package, I think once past first state, the software for additional is about $40 and another $20 to efile. Since I almost always owe on the state (and I screwed up if I get any refund), costs me a 50 cent stamp.

I e-filed the taxes today. April Fool's Day seemed appropriate - :)

Turbo Tax was free for Fed, $25 for CA. PIN was easy, took seconds.

Now drinking rum & coke.

I've used TurboTax since 1999, and I've always 'mailed' it in.
The only problem I ever ran into with TurboTax, was printing.
Before I learned to put it into a PDF file, when I'd hit print after completing the the return, it would print 35 or 40 pages!

I'm having a large screwdriver. Here's to ya!

I printed mine too. PDF and 60 pages. But my new printer does double side, so only 30 pages. The wonders of high tech.

Being basically lazy, i paid to have my state return e-filed. I also had to file the final 1041 and 541 for my trust, and that should be the end of that.
