Has anyone found a fix for the unwanted pop-ups or videos?

I'd be happy to pay for subscriptions to the sites I visit, but there are so many that it would mean I'd have to go back to w*rk.

The usual html5 and adblocker programs just don't work, as the websites block you when you block them.

Suggestions?

I haven't found any websites that block me when I browse them using Chrome with the "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" extension. If you're a Chrome user, I would give this extension a try.

Look before you leap..... Here is a fairly well written article that discusses the pros/cons of turning off JS. In the end, the author turned it back on.

Yes... It really comes down to deciding to the stop some of the things that you use a lot, like YouTube and Netflix... by stopping Java Script entirely, or by using FireFox to see those that are blocked on chrome.

The process for turning on/off JS takes 7 steps in Chrome, and I haven't found an extension that will do this, and don't know how to create a command that does it with one click.

Like the author of the thread, I'll probably go back to letting it run, but I agree... it really is nice, not to have all of the diversions. Without the JS, my computer goes really fast.

So back to the html and adblocker programs, and I'll just have to deal with the automatic.

edit...
after doing some more searching, found this "poper" blocker extension. Am trying it out now, and so far, it appears to work... Stay tuned.
