Galactic Starcruiser, anyone?

Being in California I’ve put people into 2 categories.
Those who love Disneyland
Those who love Las Vegas.
And for some reason the two don’t usually go together..

That’s odd. We love both and know many people who do. The reasons are that the two have a lot of similarities as far as theming and entertainment and immersive experiences.Gambling is low on the list for us. Last time we were in Vegas (on the same trip that included Disneyland) I spent about 60 minutes total in a casino in 5 days. My wife spent much less than that.

My megacorp had a sales convention in Las Vegas (4k attendees). When we were choosing the location I objected. The CEO said not only did he not mind if everyone lost money gambling, he thought it would be helpful, as a now broke sales force would have to work twice as hard to replace their lost savings.

I don’t gamble and thought the restaurants were ok, but did go bungee jumping, and that was a blast.

I ran into that CEO attitude before. Once the president/founder of my company remarked to me as to how they liked seeing all the new cars in the parking lot because they knew folks would be working hard for the payments. That simply reinforced my determination not to let debt drive my life.

It's sadly common, I think. Once, when I was a new lawyer going to trial with the oldest partner in my firm, he told me "The firm likes you to have a large mortgage."

In Hawaii, there are one kind of people. Those who love Las Vegas. That's why we call it the 9th Island.

Heh, heh, I don't like Vegas and I don't like Disney. Not sure what that makes me. Maybe - a stick in the mud. YMMV

Same here. I wouldn't say I HATE either one though. Hate is a strong word. I mean, we HATED Hitler. To me, Vegas and Disney are more like Mussolini.

Okay, enough with the Bob Newhart :p Seriously though, I'm not a gambler, and not really into the shows and lights and stuff, so I just don't see the allure of Vegas. I've been to Disney World maybe 3 times, and Disney Land once. The first two times I went to Disney World I was a little kid and LOVED it. But the last time was in 2005, as an adult, with two friends. It was okay, and I did have a good time. But, I just don't have any burning desire to go back. Now, maybe if I had young kids, and could see their enjoyment and live vicariously through them, I'd enjoy it.

My preference would be a regular amusement park, with a decent amount of roller coasters and other rides to keep me entertained.

So, what you are telling me is that my fly by the seat of my pants survey of an extremely small group of people isn’t accurate?
Well that’s just disturbing. [emoji23]

Do you think I may have had my biased blinders on?

Now all I can think about is planning a trip to Disneyland.
And Universal Studios to see Mario World.

I don't know Irishgirly, perhaps the guy with Disney in his username does?

How about "It's a Small World"? I've almost got that song out of my head and I need another hit.

And Universal Studios to see Mario World.

We took DS's family to Universal Studios soon after Mario World opened. I think all of us, even the kids, were underwhelmed.

I was afraid of that. I’m not sure what’s wrong with universal- they never seem to get it right. The themes always sound good but actual experience is meh.

I should probably clarify that it was the Mario World that underwhelmed. Overall, I think everyone had a good time but they were all excited about Mario World and it didn't really deliver.

LOL. Well I do certainly have a large social circle of people who love Disney, but a lot of them also love Vegas, so I'm not sure if the Disney blinders affect that.

I know people who love both. I've never been to either of them, so I can't say I don't like them. I have just never have had a desire to go and I don't think I ever will.

At the prices charged I'd demand the full Westworld experience, with crazed, out-of-control android gunslingers & robot prostitutes.
