I used to keep a glass of water by the bed, but stopped. It usually sits there unused and it doesn't seem to matter how much ice was in it, it is room temperature by the middle of the night. Besides once I put a lot of ice in the glass, it was more humid than normal and so much water condensed on the glass that there was a puddle on the night stand and the top was ruined. Funny enough, when our washing machine flooded, the feet got wet and furniture restoration specialist took it and fixed the top. Just seems ironic.
On the other hand, I always need a bottle of water when I am in a hotel room. Most tap water tastes funny to me so I would rather not drink it. I think its more psychological. You know, when you don't have access to something you seem to need it.
Used to need to get up and use the facilities several times a night. Did a lot of research and took saw palmetto. One of the few herbal remedies that actually have been proven to work. Old guy urinary problems gone. Downside, I was only in my thirties!!
