Marketwatch had a story at https://www.marketwatch.com/story/r...etirement-2019-04-29?siteid=yhoof2&yptr=yahoo
on "secrets of early retirement". I found it interesting in that it put several topics I have run across here and other places in one article.

1) Difference between full time and vacation. You enjoy vacation and a slow pace of life for a couple weeks, but you can find that boring if full time.

2) Shared time with spouse or partner. You may have different interests and may have lots of time to share together. Like learning to adjust to empty nest. Can also mean new friends where most were related to your work, you need new social circle.

3) Financial planning for retirement is different than when you have a job. Several differences, learning to draw down rather than bulking up savings; I have found you have to budget in retirement where I was lazy about it while working; Spending levels may change depending on how you fill your new found time; and of course the cost of health care.

4) Don't just retire from work, retire to a new life. Article says you should make a schedule or you may develop one by your daily habits. I would suggest you write something down before you retire about what you plan to do. For me writing it down causes me to think a plan through better. Remember it is only a plan and you can change it any time you want but what are you going to do in retirement ?

Certainly very surface level discussion, but may start you thinking about some issues if you haven't retired yet.

Number one was one thing I had some concern about but that was short lived. The weeks and months have gone by so fast and I have been so busy the concern is a non issue.
