IRA question specific to those with pensions

Then there is the accent, like what is for dinnah, the rivah is high. Lol Easterners have interesting accents.

Dual military couple here -- and I love that we maxed our Roths every year. Once our income was too high, we continued to max our Roths via backdoor contributions. We also maxed our TSP, and have substantial taxable accounts (TSP was not available to us until later in our careers.)

We are now mid fifties after over a decade of retirement and more than ever realize the value of the Roth accounts. We haven't drawn from any of our retirement accounts, but love the flexibility of our Roths. If we don't start drawing down our TSP's prior to RMD time, which means we will have social security income as well, it will definitely force our income high!!

Good problem to have, but I should probably start calculating if I want to start converting now, or maybe start taking distributions prior to RMD time and add to our taxable accounts . . .

For us, Roths were definitely the winner . . .
