I saw a post recently that asked for a loan amortization spreadsheet, so I will post what I use. I found this on the internet years ago, and I haven't been able to find it since. The attached spreadsheet template is in Excel 2003 format and it is what I use to figure out payment amounts and how extra payments will affect the loan balance/life.
You can enter in loan amount, interest rate, start of loan, loan period, etc. The spreadsheet will calculate the scheduled payment, total number of payments, the total amount of early payments and the total amount of interest paid.
If you enter in a extra amount on a particular payment, it will recalculate the amortization table and change the total number of payments and total interest.
There are dummy numbers in the input cells right now.
