Quite a few years ago, I got a couple of STAR TREK watches as gifts. I wore one for about a year because I like it so much, and it sparked lots of neat conversations. But like every wristwatch I've ever owned, the crystal and case got the bejeebers beat out of it (clumsy with my hands/arms, I guess) and like others here, the band broke. Having scratched it up was bad enough, but not being able to replace the band was worse. I haven't been able to wear it (or the KLINGON one out of fear) ever since....
So I went back to pocket watches -- my preference anyway since college. I can carry them in various watch pockets (like the ones on most jeans & vests) or I have a leather case that snaps over my belt. My current favorite is a wind up with partial glass case, so you can see the works moving.
