I have Spanish down pat (including a BA in Spanish Language and Literature) although I've lost some fluency and vocab over the years. I still know how to conjugate a verb if you know what I mean.
I have been using duolingo to learn French since retiring. I do a lesson or two per day on when I get around to it. I'm at level six or seven I think. It's fun, like a game. I see others like duolingo as well.
I voted "fun hobby/interest" and "enrich travel experiences". We were on an international cruise a few years ago and I was grossly embarrassed by my limited ability to speak French to a particular family we saw on occasion. I'd like to at least be able to carry on a basic conversation in poor broken French at some point.
German sounds interesting too, although of more limited use?
