RIP Minnie Minoso

Minnie Minoso was my favorite baseball player of all-time. I named two of my dogs "Minnie". I sometimes use "Minnie" as a screen name.

RIP Minnie. Lots of us are going to miss you.

Minoso w*rked until age 77, well, he took an at-bat for the St. Paul Saints during 2003.

First Mr. Cub and now Mr. White Sox.

The deaths remind me of the year when Chicago broadcasters Harry Caray, then soon after Jack Brickhouse passed away.

RIP Minnie Minoso.

A year barely two months old has ripped twice at Chicago's heart. As word spread Sunday that Minnie Minoso had died, conversations turned back five-plus weeks to the loss of Ernie Banks.

White Sox mourn Minnie Minoso: 'He left a huge legacy'
Fitting, perhaps, that the White Sox's ambassador-for-life had excused himself so soon after the Cubs' ambassador-for-life had done the same.

Except that this city, this world, needs more such gentlemen, not two fewer.
