I got a new screen protector for my phone and I really like it. So much so that I got one for my iPad. It was easy to install, no air bubbles, but best of all, these new protectors eliminate fingerprints on the screen. The brand I got was amFilm, but I think what’s important is that they use tempered glass. How that’s flexible I sure don’t know, but it works very well. I don’t think this would do much good if you dropped your phone, but for scratches I’m pretty sure it will work just fine, which is what I wanted it for. But not having fingerprints on my phone and more important, my iPad is sweet.

I haven’t used a screen protector in years, so maybe this is old news, but for those that haven’t tried these, I suggest that you should. Pretty nice.

I use a tempered glass screen protector and drop my phone all the time. Even if it falls in such a was as to shatter the screen protector, the actual screen might escape damage. I have a case to protect against drops. No damage to screen or phone in 4+ years

I understand how this thin glass would protect from scratches on the underlying screen, but how does the glass not get fingerprints ?

I have no idea but it does. I had a note I wanted to remember so I wrote it on a post-it note and stuck it on my phone. It wouldn’t stick. Not even a little. Some kind of coating?

Note, after a few days of using, I can see some smudging, but not even close to my screen without the protector. It’s really nice.

Its called an oleophobic coating. I forget how it works exactly but I think it basically repels liquids like the oil that leaves fingerprints. Tons of youtube videos. It doesn't work 100%

Update

I put my iPad down and hit it just right and the screen protector cracked. The box came with two so I’ll be putting the other one on today. The update is because I really notice the difference now that I’ve used my iPad for a day without it. The protector is not 100% finger print free, but now that I’m using my iPad without it, I really notice how much it was helping - a lot! Also, the protector is much smoother, so just the feel of the glass is better as I run my finger across the screen or even more when I use my Apple Pencil.

I’ll be putting on the new protector soon (today) for sure.

I got a cheap phone, so not too concerned about protecting the screen. Have owned the phone for several years and haven't seen many scratches on the screen.

I do use screen protectors for the LCD screens on my cameras. Works great and I'm pleased.

I have had zagg invisibleshield on pixel 3 for about a year. When I dropped the phone, the shield glass developed a few hairline cracks, and definitely saved my @$$. I still have one protector in the box.
