I have been semi-retired for the past 7 years.
Taking contract jobs on both W-2 and 1099. I worked all of 2019.
My last contract ended Dec 31, 2019 and I had been searching when Covid-19 hit.
Financially I can survive without having a job for a year or so and because of the CARES Act I have been receiving unemployment.
My line of work requires being on-site. A lot of it cannot be done remote. I don't feel safe going onsite.
I know lots of people are in worst shape but I like to keep somewhat busy with meaningful work. Michael Osterholm says to think of it as "our Covid year" and take it easy. Can't but feel a bit dejected.
