Anyone who served on an aircraft carrier knows what jet fuel tastes like, especially if it was a CV, and not a CVN!Do you remember what gasoline tastes like?

Oh good! Thank you for telling us this. I had no idea, and it sure sounds better than staying home indefinitely.Granholm announced the pipeline was to restart today (5pm) so hopefully this will be a blip.
No way to reschedule the doctors appointment. My mother is having a health issue that needs immediate attention. I will try to find another family member to go with her but they are all probably in the same boat. I will probably go and if I cannot find gas to get back i will just have to stay somewhere until there is gas available so I can get back home.
Most (maybe all) newer cars now have anti siphon valves. Not sure when it started so good luck with that. I know it's been standard for most cars in the past 6 to 8 years, maybe longer. There are several ways to get the fuel out these days but it's not as easy as it once was.Bring a gas can and siphon hose with you and siphon enough gas out of her car and put it into yours so you can get home?

... FL governor has declared a state of emergency telling gas stations not to gouge prices. ...
I live in NC and I have 1/3 of a tank of gas in the car.
I'm annoyed, because it is definitely panic buying around here that is causing the outages. I wish the governor had never declared an "emergency" because that sent people flocking to the pumps. I understand he did it in order to suspend some kind of fuel regulations, and also to head off potential price gouging, etc. ...
I'm sorry, gosh post getting vaccinated you have had more then your share of stress. Take care of yourself...
That is true! I know I have enough gas to get to my mother's and get her to her doctor's appointment. I will just have to worry about getting home after mother's appointment as best I can. If I have to stay with mother and sleep on her couch for a while until there is gas I will just have to do that. Fortunately my DH who had the knee replacement is doing well enough now to look after himself for a few days if it comes to that. I can't send mother to her appointment in an Uber, she needs a family member at the appointment, besides I am hearing the Uber drivers are having to stop driving because they don't have any gas either. Wow this is like going on lockdown all over again! Of all things... I feel dumb for not rushing out and filling my car and gas can with gas as soon as I heard the pipelines were shutting down. I just figured it would amount to nothing and I was wrong.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/c...al-service-will-take-several-days/ar-BB1gFl7l”Colonial Pipeline initiated the restart of pipeline operations today [Wed 5/12] at approximately 5 p.m. ET," the company said in a statement on its website. "Following this restart, it will take several days for the product delivery supply chain to return to normal."
Are we back in the 70s? Gas lines, inflation, Middle East problems, Russian problems...what next?

Where are all us FIREd folks going that we immediately need to have a full tank of gas?

For some, we lived in a poor part of town.... So we were considered trend setters in my neighborhood....color TV started in the 60s.
See if you can rent a car with the 'purchase fuel' option. No way to reschedule the doctors appointment. My mother is having a health issue that needs immediate attention.
