We are in our early 60's (retired) and are evaluating our Health Plan options for 2022. We have been on COBRA but that runs out at the end of the year. I wanted to explore ACA options on the Colorado Marketplace because of the premium cap of 8.5% of MAGI, but they are only offering plans that have in-network coverage in the state of Colorado. Of course, these plans do allow emergency coverage outside of the state, but based on the issues (treatment delays and OOP $) we had in 2021 getting medical attention elsewhere we would prefer a nation-wide in-network plan. Are we stuck with using the Colorado Marketplace to get an ACA plan? Or can we use the federal Marketplace? Or other cost-effective options?

Yes you use the Colorado exchange. I didn't find any plans that allow multi-state like I had in KC. Sucks because I'm much closer to Albuquerque than Denver.

Yes, our problem with the ACA is the lack of out of network coverage. We are in Georgia and none of the policies offered cover out of network treatment, except for emergency room care. In Georgia, as in Colorado, the network is in-state only and quite restricted. We did have 1 BCBS policy that had a $50,000 air ambulance benefit to bring patients back to Georgia for hospitalization. We couldn't find any alternatives on or off the exchanges.
