Technical comparison of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" outfits

I bought my parents a subscription to the MedicalAlarm.com company's product (Good Housekeeping approved). While it works as advertised, there is one aspect that I am slightly concerned about. When they press the button the box announces an emergency 3 times (expected), but after that it takes 30-45 seconds before somebody comes on the line to inquire about the problem.

Does anybody else have experience with these companies and is that amount of delay typical?
 
We bought a similar system for my father a long while back after he fell and was down most of a day before he was discovered.

He kept forgetting to put it on.:(

We wound up moving him to assisted living, with which he was quite happy. And a lot safer.
