Foolish, trivial, or idle talk or chatter.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
My username isn't a commentary on this forum. I chose it because a) "piffle" was taken, and b) it sounds mostly harmless.
Now, if you really want to psychoanalyze reasons for leaving the forum, I'll try to give you some rare candid insights into mine.
1) I find posting to be somewhat addictive. Addictions can be time consuming, and I decided I wanted to spend more time doing other things.
2) Over time, the topic of ER is less compelling to me. Especially as the same old arguments get rehashed with no new insights.
3) Obviously, the topics are new to some people, so I wanted to step back and let new voices through. Who knows, we might even get some fresh perspectives.
4) I'm not crazy about the idea of contributing to a for-profit forum in which the profit is a function of user-contributed content, yet the users do not share in the profits. That's not to say I'm against capitalism, but I prefer to be the exploiter rather than the exploited.
So, I'll probably post a bit. Maybe even a lot if my old posting addiction kicks in. I like the personalities here as well as the high-quality twaddle.
