What are these

Scrapers for skinning and an awl? Are they bone or :confused:

They are ribbon threaders. Still not sure how they are used.


They are used to pull a length of ribbon through a casing on a garment. So this could be for a waistband or hood. A similar tool to thread elastic through a casing is called a bodkin.

I could imagine using these to thread ribbon through a loom or perhaps things like whalebone, a wicker fan, and the like. Just push the threader through the tight gap, slip a length of ribbon into the slot, and pull the reader back out with one end of the ribbon. Pretty much same concept as a needle and thread.

This is a archeological quiz. Those are probably from the early 1900's. We have these kind of tests at our forest preserve lunches.
