Why Balanced Funds Have Outperformed Target Date Funds

All in all, I'm happy with my overall results and realize I could probably do better if I spent time worrying about such things. I'm too old and tired to worry about such things anymore. YMMV

I set my international equity exposure at 20% several years ago and have not rebalanced so it has dropped to about 18% and change.

I plan to leave it alone and let it bob up and down. I have HUGE concerns about the U S. national debt which is both a taxation and spending issue that our dysfunctional politicians in both parties seem incapable of addressing. This along with higher PE ratios in the U.S. make me feel that international might soon have it's day.

I do not own any international bonds and at this point have no plans to do so in the future.

^^^^^ We do have an international bond index, as our Vanguard advisor advises, but it moves in tandem with the domestic one, so I’m neutral on it.
