Yellowstone - Where to stay outside of the Park?

We booked our RV spot in the park a year in advance. When we arrived I noticed there were no picnic tables and was wondering why. Well by 5pm there were mosquitoes like you would not believe. You could not stand to be outside at all. We started to draw straws on who was going to pee the dogs)

Family and I went a few years ago and rented a house near the west entrance on VRBO. Bigger than we needed, but at same cost as a hotel. Plus we had a garage, deck, game room and full kitchen. It was about 5 miles west of West Yellowstone. Agree that you need to head for the park early. Lines can be bad. Pack a lunch as choices in park are limited. Regarding dining in WY - I highly recommend Bar N Ranch. I think they have rooms as well but only experienced the dining room. Bon Voyage.
