Hello from Vancouver

Hello everyone. I've been looking for Financial Independence and Early Retirement blogs and forums to read and came across this site.

My wife and I are currently in late 30's and early/mid 40's. I'm looking to retire in about 5 years. My wife has a Defined Benefits plan so she needs to work longer to reap the rewards of it.

We're hovering around "basic" FI right now but we want to save enough of a nest egg to continue to feed our travel addiction and allow us to splurge/be more comfortable as we likely can't go as hard as we age. Ideally, we'd like to travel 6 months out of the year so that's what's driving our magic number at this point.

Looking forward to picking up some financial tips and maybe talking some travel with everyone.

Which Vancouver.... BC or WA?

We're from the BC version of Vancouver though we regularly head down to Seattle and Portland during long weekends. We love the Portland food truck scene and food scene in general!
