Best guitar solos

+1 on the "All Along the Watchtower". From Jimi would have to also include "Purple Haze" and "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)"

Others I like (too lazy to link):

- "Layla" (Derek and the Dominos - Duane Allman)

- "Whipping Post" (Allman Brothers - Duane Allman)

- "Reeling in the Years" (Steely Dan - Elliot Randall )

- "Maggot Brain" (Funkadelic - Eddie Hazel)

- "That Lady" (Isley Brothers - Ernie Isley)

- "Highway Star" (Deep Purple - Ritchie Blackmore)

- "Texas Flood" (Stevie Ray Vaughn)

- "Scorpio" (Dennis Coffey; also a great bass solo by Bob Babbitt)

- "Slide" (Slave - Mark "Drac" Hicks)

- "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" (Tomoyasu Hotei)

How about adding

Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple/Ritchie Blackmore

And

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin/Jimmy Page

To the discussion.

One place to look would be in San Francisco on a Friday night.

Yes, one of my favorite CDs, and I saw that show in Chicago.

Maybe I should say, I don't know where to begin because I would never know where to end. Even that one CD has about a hundred examples of great solos.

Such a broad category, but it should be fun.

I also think the "Maggot Brain" (Funkadelic - Eddie Hazel) is one of the best ever.

My favorite "Voodoo Chile" is by Eric Clapton on the Clapton/Winwood 2009 tour album.

"Comfortably Numb" - David Gilmour/Pink Floyd

So many guitarists I like! Here are two lesser known that I enjoy:
Marry you- bramhall ii - YouTube
Clapton liked this one so much he covered it with BB King.

Always liked Zal Cleminson from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Pretty good solo at the 2 minute mark, but not my favorite of his.

Also like Derry Grehan from Honeymoon Suite:

Finally, Vernon Reid is amazing. Very unique sense:
