Years ago when I was ambitious, rigged a net in front of and above the door with loops on solenoids' plungers.

A solenoid is a gizmo, when energized pulls a metal rod into a coil of wire, thereby releasing whatever was hanging on said metal rod.

When the unsuspecting tricksters rang the bell, the solenoids released the net, enveloping them.

The shrieks were priceless.

One Halloween DW and I went to my cousins party. Went to the wrong house. Had a few drinks and left after we figured it out. Got to cousins and didn't talk to anyone. Took em an hour to figure out who we were.
