Recently passed laws require many online sellers to start collecting sales tax and remitting to states based on the delivery address.

I have noticed small and larger businesses make some errors. Bought some clothing online and was charged sales tax, but our state does not tax clothing. I brought this to their attention, and they replied that the new law requires them to collect tax in all states now. Wrong. It requires them to collect when the item is actually taxable. Replied accordingly and did get my $1.83 back. (yes, we are penny pinchers-it's how we got to ER- right!)

I have noticed others calculate the wrong amount of tax. Even had an in-state business tax us on some outerwear- and that was a $23 overcharge.

So it pays to check receipts-ka-ching!
