Love that song, first LP I bought when I arrived in college in 1968. Saw them live, hard to believe so much sound can come from such a little person. Converted the LP to MP3 but had too many scratches, just bought it again from itunes.

Now, DW absolutely hates the song, makes funny parodies when I sing it.

Is that "Passion" in a song or a song played "Passionately"? Or both

(I am also partial to Dana Owen's version -- Queen Latifah.)

This is perfect for those, who like me, prefer their passion "molto dolce e soave".

Unless Google led me astray... "Very sweet and gentle" is the perfect attitude.

I used to hear Cannonbll and Nate at the Village Vanguard back in the mid 60s. Lots of very hard bebop, but lots of this sweet stuff too. I loved them.

Yes, very sweet and gentle. It makes me feel very good about being in this world.

[QUOTE=Purron;977909]Love this one by the Police.

Ummm... you do know that's a song about a deranged stalker, right? I saw Sting being interviewed about it - he said he found it really weird that people play it at weddings a lot.

You want passion? This song gives me goosebumps (especially at 2:22 when the piano comes in). Best song ever written about a friend who died.

Well, one thing you gotta say about a stalker, he is passionate.

Yeah, I know. Carpenters. But hey, I've always loved Karen's voice. There now. I've admitted it. I feel so much better now. At least she's not a stalker, right?

Even Cristina Aguilera could not ruin this anthem.

Almost blue
Almost doing things we used to do
There's a girl here and she's almost you
Almost
All the things you promised with your eyes
I see in hers too
Now your eyes are red from crying

Almost blue
Flirting with this disaster became me
It named me as the fool who only aimed to be

Almost blue
Almost touching it will almost do
There's a part of me that's always true... always

All the things that you promised with your eyes
I see in hers too
Now your eyes are red from crying

Almost you

Almost me

Almost blue

Here is my favorite-

To me there is no real romance without pain and loss, and no one embodies this as well as this singer singing this song.

Between that and "As Time Goes By", it shows that "Casablanca" is still one of the greatest movies of all time, not only in acting and story, but in music as well.
