Networking

I don't know if any of you have posted a thread like this before, but I think it could be very beneficial for all of us if we can share with each other the following information:

1. Employer

2. Job Title

3. Location

4. Years with the company?

xmanz, there seems to be an aversion on this board to providing extraneous information. Each member's profile has a place for location, etc. but my guess is that most don't bother to complete it.

I've often enjoyed seeing at least where people are from. Doubt you'll find many takers of your suggestion, but I could be wrong.

Well, actually that's surprisingly not true. What happens is that people seem to vet one another from their posting pattern. Like a cocktail party conversation. When they are convinced that the other is not a serial killer they might share where they're from using private messages and eventually email.

I have met other members in person through that route and it has been a pleasure. Stick around and you'll see what I mean.

Why would it be very beneficial for us all, exactly? Methinks the risks outweigh the benefits of posting information like this for all the world to see.

FWIW

1. Mega-Corp

2. IT Security Manager (Last title)

3. Western Canada

4. 20 - 25 when I left. ER is GRReat!

Some of us (or maybe, just me) wish to remain anonymous. If, in the unlikely event that someone in my heighbourhood is here, then I am outed. Sometimes we answer NW or other questions that we don't want our neighbous to know (or we don't want them to know we lie).

OK, this should be in another forum but:

What's the difference between a Jew, a Protestant and a Mennonite?
A Jew doesn't recognize the divinity of Christ.
A Protestant doesn't recognize the holy trinity.
A Mennonite doesn't recognize his neighbours in the liquor store.
