I am one of those. OR would be my first choice (that is where I am from), but I
will be moving to WA in the next few years now that I have retired.

I will converting IRA to Roth IRA each year after moving, so my income will be
artifically high. OR has one of the worst income taxes in the country, WA has
none.

Much of my spending (health insurance, travel) is not subject to sales tax, lessening
the impact of WA sales tax.

WA has a lower property tax rate, with comparable prices in the areas I would
be looking at in WA and OR.

Hawaii is #6, but that sorta skips over the facts that Hawaii is one of the nation's most retiree-friendly tax states, and the Oahu property taxes are only about 3.56 mils...

Gotta make that up somehow, and it falls squarely on the shoulders of the employees.
