I think someone should start the related thread: Movies that make you cry.

My #1 all time fav is "Once Upon a Time in the West". That Charles Bronson.....yum.

Others include:
You've Got Mail
Under the Tuscan Sun

All the Godfather movies

• 2001 A Space Odyssey (1968)

• Star Trek (2009)

• Ex Machina (2015)

• Inception (2010)

• Metropolis (1927)

• The Matrix (1999)

I seem to have a taste for sci fi.

Yes I'm seeing a pattern here. No Bladerunner, 12 Monkeys?

As they come to me:

2001
Casablanca
Blazing Saddles
Love and Death
Young Frankenstein
Seven Days in May
Dr. Strangelove
Going My Way
The Thin Man
A Bridge Too Far
Annie Hall

Yes, I know this makes me sound like I'm 90+ years old...

Love those love stories.

Out of Africa
Casablanca
Sometimes a Great Notion

Thanks for the thread. It helps me remember movie titles.. I Do have Firestick and Roku along with about a million different movies. My problem is there aren't enough years left to scan for my favorites. See? I don't even remember my favorites. This is a great thread... Thanks!!!!!

anyway, one that I just watched, "All the President's Men". :)

Hunt for Red October
Casablanca
Apollo 13
Independence Day
We Were Soldiers
African Queen
The Patriot
12 Angry Men
Saving Private Ryan
12 O’clock High

Another vote for Casablanca at the top:)

The rest of mine, random order:
Mary Poppins
Blazing Saddles
Animal House
North By Northwest
Die Hard
Star Wars
Holiday Inn
To Have and Have Not
My space program saga - The Right Stuff/First Man/Apollo 13/Space Cowboys

Really tough for me to narrow them down - so many oldies but goodies slowly coming back from long-term memory.

1. Colossus: The Forbin Project (a classic must see if you're an IT geek - similar to War Games/Broderick but came out 13 years earlier)
2. Star Wars (the original)
3. The Sting
4. Top Gun
5. Soylent Green
6. Dead Again (and most Kenneth Branagh movies)
7. The Sunshine Boys (Walter Matthau and George Burns - what a combo!)
8. Rollerball (the original)
9. Cannonball Run (what a cast!)
10. Slap Shot (gotta love those Hanson brothers!)

I'm not a huge Jim Carrey fan, but I did enjoy:

• The Mask (1994)

• The Truman Show (1998)

That leaves me with one slot left to fill within my allotted quota. Hmmm ....

Jeremiah Johnson
Out of Africa
Capt Ron
Christmas Vacation
Kelly's Heros
Saving Private Ryan
Tomb Stone
The Way We Were
Africa Queen
Open Range

If you like Kelly’s Heros which I definitely do, then you have to also like Dirty Dozen!

I’ve seen Apollo 13, The Right Stuff, and Dr Strangelove all mentioned. They weren’t on my list but I definitely agree.

Also, would add Fail Safe

Yes I like the contrast between Fail Safe and Dr Strangelove and between The Forbin Project and Wargames. Dirty Dozen was good and have a soft spot for The Great Escape as well.

Since several of mine are already listed several times, I will only try to add what I think are new titles not yet mentioned. (I hope I am not repeating, but I haven't doublechecked) I will repeat one title that was only mentioned once before and it was sort of misspelled so it gets on my list for that reason and it would be maybe my all time favorite anyway-

Chinatown (one word not two)
And those not yet listed please pick one Billy Wilder:
The Apartment
Sunset Boulevard
Stalag 17

Then in no particular order:

Goodfellas
The Graduate
Paths of Glory
Midnight Cowboy

Under-rated but so good:
Galaxy Quest
Three Days of the Condor

The King's speech

A beautiful mind

Love actually

Anything with Hugh Grant or Liam Neeson

All of the above mentioned already.

A Few Good Men
Groundhog Day
Big Lebowski
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List

We too WERE big movie fans - at least 2 per week at the movies. Followed directors & writers and looked forward to the Oscars. But the general public ruined the experience for us. Talking & cell phones !!!! Funny how a business punishes their best customers by not enforcing the rules.

Now we wait or buy a $.29 Redbox with coupon.

My all time favorites are
Hunt for the Red October- Seen it so many times I know the Russian dialog:)
To Catch a Thief-Loved Grace Kelly
Casablanca- DW and I kissed at the top of the Eiffel Tower-We'll always have Paris
Godfather-Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer
Contact-Jodie Foster was great
Anything with Clint Eastwood-Dirty Harry, Spaghetti Westerns
Gone With The Wind-Frankly, my dear I don't give a damn
In the Heat of the Night-What do you do in Philadelphia, boy?-I am a Police Detective
Forever Young- I also got to fly a B-25

Most of my favorites already listed, a couple I didn't see.

Good Will Hunting
Last of the Mohicans
The Sting

What? No love for Dr. Zhivago? Deliverance? Jaws?

Totally agree with Eastwood, Newman, and Redford movies. Was Bullitt mentioned?
