You're not. I use LOL cause there's no short hand for "you made me snort my milk". There are some pretty funny comments on this forum.
 
How about sitting at a red light, and having smoke waft into your car from someone next to you smoking with their window down? THAT should be against the law for sure.

That said, I do think some of Dylan's live recordings were just change for the sake of change. Love Dylan, but some of those are just weird, like he got bored and just decided to do something, anything.

I also hate the forced standing ovation and planned encore. It used to be you had to earn the SO and encore requests, and then the encore was often something way outside the normal repertoire, a chance for the artist to maybe show off a different side. They approached it like, OK, you got your money's worth for the show, now just a little icing on the cake. But now, it's just part of the show.

I recall seeing a Grammy award winning trumpet player at a local college show. I forget his name offhand, but a top talent, and the show was fantastic. His last song, he just threw everything into it, it was amazing, full of energy and lots of fast. high notes - really stretching it. I felt embarrassed that the crowd wanted an encore - couldn't they see he just gave it all he had?

Heck, I saw Ian Anderson a while back - the papers reviewing the tour announce that they do 'Locomotive Breath' as the encore on this tour. So much for spontaneity. :(

I agree with you about bands shaking things up. If done right, it can make the song more fun to hear. :) I really enjoy it when a band has the talent to go off into an improvisation in the middle of a famous song, and "jam" together in the middle of the song, then come back to the score at the end to finish it off. Frank Zappa was good at that.
 
I thought of a peeve yeaterday, by now I forgot what it was. Guess it was not a major peeve.

My peeve is hiring a contractor to install something right. I can install things wrong just fine on my own, but when I want something installed per the manufacturer's instructions, things that take tools I don't have, like a torque wrench that is calibrated, meters and test equipment, etc, I hire a professional. However, I've yet to have a single contractor install anything while following the manufacturer's instruction. I do my homework; go on-line and read the instructions, then decide it's above my skill-set, yet I do understand what needs to be done to be right.

Anyways, I think I made my point. Really chaps my hide.

Sure he can - with the windows up so the rest of us don't have to breathe his smoke. Smoking in public (at least in civilized places) is illegal for a reason. Welcome to 2015.

I smell tobacco smoke from the car ahead of me with my windows up. Nasty stuff, that said I don't let it upset me. Like passing a pig hauler on the road. The pig hauler knows what pigs smell like, smokers don't know what they smell like.
 
If a little cigarette smoke bothers you, wait til pot is legalized as a recreational drug. Now that stuff stinks!

I would imagine the exhaust coming from the cars including yours is a bit more harmful to environment than a cigarette is. :) But I can certainly understand being annoyed with a smell that bothers you. I really don't notice cigarette smoke smell anywhere except in restaurants that have smoking sections butting up to the nonsmoking sections.

Tobacco smoke is bad enough for my allergies but worse is overuse of perfume. I've had to move more than once in church because of strong perfume smells.

You really think sitting in traffic and breathing exhaust laden NOx and SO2 is clean? :facepalm:

You would be much better off keeping your windows closed and breathing filtered air from your car's A/C system.

Where do restaurants still have smoking sections? Though I was kart racing at a track in WV a couple years ago, and was surprised that people there still openly smoke in public among groups of people.

At least you can move--or leave. I have no patience for a person that sprays that stuff all over themselves and then boards an airplane with me and a hundred other people. All of us sealed up in that aluminum tube for a few hours. It is exceptionally inconsiderate and obnoxious. I wonder if the cabin crew ever asks those people to get off the plane before pushing back from the gate? I think most passengers would applaud that with gusto.
 
The only places that I frequent and that I notice people still smoking, are in casinos. I quit smoking over 30 years ago and I still miss them when I'm around others that are smoking. It doesn't bother me other than I want one when I smell the smoke. Unfortunately, I think it's a little like alcoholism, if I smoke one, I'll want more.

BTW, how I was able to quit smoking.

I tried to quit for about a year (or more) before I finally found something that worked for me. Like many smokers, I liked certain brands and dislike others. A few brands I really hated.:yuk: Anyway, I bought several packs of a brand I really hated and smoked them for a few days. I kept one last pack in the car and one in the house just in case I wanted (needed) another cigarette. After just a few days, they had left such a bad taste in my mouth (and memory) that I was able to completely stop long enough to break the habit. 30 years later I still miss them on occasions but it's now easily controllable. YMMV

Naf, you need to go down memory lane (ok, bad memory lane) and eat in a small rural diner in MO. They may have a dozen tables with half "smoking" all right next to each other. :)
I still get a kick out of watching an old show where someone lights up a cigarette while riding an airplane. Now that was certainly not "the good old days".

Reminds me of the Madmen episode where Don Draper's wife was accompanying one of her kids classes on one of their day trips, and was smoking on the school bus.

And my wife and I were reminiscing a while ago about those `good old days' growing up in upstate NY, when our parents would smoke with us kids in the car. Especially annoying (though we would never admit that back in those days) in the winter when the windows were all rolled tightly up.

Hey maybe on that side of the state. I agree with rural but that's starting to blend in, what was rural 10 years ago are now "bedroom communities", half the restaurants in our town have smoking sections, yuck. Not a big sample as there's 4 restaurants in town. We generally drive to the next town as smoking is banned in their restaurants.

Casinos stink, I won't go in anymore. Did a couple times for a free lunch. Never again, not enough they could give me to go back. So many folks on oxygen still smoking, too sad and smelly for me.
