EE savings bonds - when do they pay?

I have a bunch of EE savings bonds purchased July 1992. Since the current rate is so dismal, I'm going to trade them for I bonds, (trade = sell/buy) Does anyone know when the interest is credited? I understand it isn't obvious.

Does anyone know when the interest is credited?

For EE Bonds, the interest is credited once every 6 months (while I bonds have interest credited on the 1st of every month). Since they are July bonds, interest is credited on your bonds every January 1 and July 1. Since it's 1 month into the next holding period, it wouldn't hurt you to cash them in immediately..but don't wait until June 28.
