Shutdown and Delayed SS

Has anybody else not received their SS deposit. I called SS and the recording said the deposit were supposed to be sent out Feb.1st. I have never received my later than the 3rd.

Social Security and disability checks will still go out for the duration of the shutdown.

Retirees who depend on their monthly Social Security checks to make ends meet can breathe a sigh of relief: Benefits won't be affected by the partial government shutdown. The Social Security Administration is already funded through September 2019, so services remain in effect and benefits checks will continue to arrive on time, according to the Social Security administration.

Must be some other problem going on. Maybe check with your bank?

My SS isn't due until the second Wednesday (13th), but I am not even slightly concerned.

I got mine on time. DW got her 1st payment, after an unexplained delay, in January.

I don't believe it, I have been trying to call since 7am, all I'm getting is the recording and telling me to call back between 7 and 7 if I need to talk to a rep.

That’s an improvement over my experience. When I called in December to find out why DW’s application was still pending, I got a recorded message, then the call was disconnected. No option to wait or leave a message.

Here’s the schedule for payments in 2019 https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10031-2019.pdf For the month of February, the first regular payment is scheduled the second Wednesday, the 13th.

The only payment prior to that is for people receiving Social Security benefits prior to May 1997; or both Social Security and SSI. That payment date was scheduled for Feb. 1st.
